What is a dietitian?

 Dietitians are the key to unlocking all we need to know about our health, diet and nutrition. Using their expert knowledge they assess, diagnose, and treat dietary and nutritional problems at an individual and wider public health level.

 Our specialist dieticians use the science of nutrition to improve health and treat conditions. Pivot Health has an experienced team of registered dietitians who have worked in the NHS and HSE for many years, bringing with them a wealth of knowledge and expertise. PHASE I – DIGITAL ASSESSMENT

Your employees securely log in to our platform and complete a pre-consultation assessment form to understand any underlying health considerations.  

You are then invited to book an appointment with your dietitian using the online calendar tool  

PHASE II – EXPERT CONSULTATION

During the 30 minute online consultation, our dietetics expert will get to know you better with any issues identified during the initial assessment. They will work with your employee to produce a treatment /action plan to achieve their goals over a realistic time period. 

We provide advice and recommendations including meal plans, receipts and information on different nutrients or management of conditions.

Karen Greer

Qualifications and Education

Karen is a CORU registered Dietitian and a member of the Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute.

Karen graduated from the University of Ulster Coleraine with a first-class honours degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics in 2008.

Karen has completed two paediatric master’s modules and a diploma in diabetes management

Experience

Since graduating Karen has worked as a clinical dietitian in a range of different hospital and community settings across England and Scotland before returning to Ireland.

Karen has expertise in managing a range of nutritional issues in adults. These include type 1 and type 2 diabetes, coeliac disease, weight management, nutritional support, IBS and heart disease.

Karen has also spent over four years working in paediatric nutrition helping children and their families achieve their nutritional goals in a variety of specialised areas including neonatal nutrition, faltering growth, allergies, type 1 diabetes and weight management.

Karen has a keen interest in health promotion and is passionate about ensuring that healthy eating messages aren’t unnecessarily over-complicated and most importantly remains enjoyable. Karen’s belief is everyone should feel empowered to nurture their health to achieve their nutritional goals.

 In her spare time Karen enjoys running, hiking, shopping, cooking and running after her children.

Aislinn McCourt

Qualification & Education

Aislinn is a registered dietitian in Ireland (CORU) and the UK (HCPC), and is a member of the Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute (INDI) and the Nutrition Society. She completed a BSc in Dietetics from Ulster University and a PhD in Nutrition from University College Dublin.

Experience & Interests

During her training in the NHS Aislinn gained experience in both acute and community settings, and more recently worked in a local community hospital during the Covid-19 pandemic. Aislinn has experience managing a range of medical conditions, including malnutrition, obesity, renal disease, cancer, diabetes, gastroenterological issues, heart disease, dementia, PCOS, and more.

Aislinn is passionate about debunking nutrition myths and translating the latest nutritional research into dietary advice. As an award-winning research dietitian, she has conducted two human research trials, presented her research at national and international conferences, has a number of academic publications, and has lectured on nutrition and dietetics university courses. Her PhD research focused on vitamin D and how its absorption can be improved using food fortification.
